Cybersecurity Operations Manager

About the role

Vaco is partnering with a national retail organization to hire a hands-on Cybersecurity Operations Manager in Tempe, Arizona. This leader will strengthen enterprise security operations across SOC monitoring, vulnerability management, endpoint protection, data loss prevention, incident response, and automation. You will develop internal security talent, hold external MSSP partners accountable, and improve detection, escalation, and response processes. Working closely with IT, GRC, engineering, and business stakeholders, you will translate security priorities into practical programs and measurable improvements. The position requires onsite attendance Monday through Thursday, with optional remote work on Fridays. Base compensation ranges from $150,000 to $160,000, depending on experience, with potential bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package. What you'll do

• Lead SOC monitoring, alert triage, escalation, and incident response operations.
• Manage MSSP performance, service-level commitments, and alert quality.
• Oversee vulnerability remediation, endpoint security, and DLP programs.
• Improve SIEM and SOAR workflows through automation, enrichment, and response playbooks.
• Develop security metrics, executive reporting, incident simulations, and post-incident reviews.
• Mentor security staff and collaborate across IT, GRC, engineering, and business teams.

What you'll bring

• At least 6 years of cybersecurity, security operations, incident response, or related technical experience.
• Demonstrated leadership of SOC operations, MSSP relationships, and high-pressure incident response.
• Hands-on experience with EDR, MDR, SIEM, SOAR, vulnerability management, and endpoint security tools.
• Knowledge of NIST, CIS Controls, PCI, SOX, and CCPA, plus strong cross-functional communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent additional experience; CISSP or CISM preferred.
• Understanding of AI-related security risks and responsible automation; availability onsite Monday through Thursday.
