About the role

GTR has worked exclusively in the electric utility industry since 2008, recruiting engineering and leadership talent across a highly specialized market. We're looking for an experienced recruiter to own the candidate side of our active searches, from the first conversation through start date. This is not a high-volume staffing role, and there is no new-business quota. Your focus is recruiting and developing passive talent. You'll also have a significant head start: 18 years of client relationships, hiring-manager trust, an established industry network, and a team that already knows this market.

What you'll do

  • is fully remote, with flexibility in how you manage your day.
  • We measure results, not hours logged or whether there's a green dot next to your name.
  • What You'll Own Engage experienced engineers, designers, and engineering leaders and turn sourced names into interested, qualified candidates
  • Lead in-depth recruiting conversations to assess technical experience, motivation, compensation, notice period, and counteroffer risk
  • Prepare strong candidate submittals, manage candidates through interviews, and debriefs
  • Own the closing process, including compensation pre-close, resignation planning, counteroffer protection, references, and confirmed start dates
  • Maintain disciplined follow-up and ensure every candidate in your pipeline has a clear next step
  • This is a phone-first recruiting environment.
  • You should be comfortable engaging passive candidates, navigating live objections, and making 40+ outbound recruiting calls per week.
  • What Success Looks Like We care about quality, consistency, and placements, not activity for activity's sake.
  • Target three strong candidate submittals per active search
  • Contribute to the firm's goal of two to three placements per month as you ramp
  • Build and maintain strong candidate relationships throughout the search process

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years of agency recruiting, executive search, or comparable technical recruiting experience
  • Demonstrated success proactively recruiting and engaging passive candidates
  • Strong phone skills and the ability to build credibility with experienced professionals
  • Clear, direct written communication and the ability to work independently
  • A track record of producing results in a remote environment
  • Experience in electric utility, power delivery, energy, or heavy engineering is preferred, particularly within substation, transmission, distribution, protection and controls, or power systems studies.
  • Experience with engaged or retained search is also a plus.
  • If you don't come directly from the utility market, that's not necessarily a dealbreaker.
  • You will need to demonstrate that you can learn a specialized technical market quickly and build credibility with the people in it.
  • High-volume light industrial or clerical staffing experience alone will not prepare someone for this role.
  • Why GTR Established market.
  • You're stepping into 18 years of relationships, industry knowledge, and a network of engineers and hiring leaders who know GTR.
  • Autonomy. We've operated remotely for years.
  • Manage your day around your clients, candidates, and results.
  • Uncapped earning potential.
  • This is a full-time W-2 position with a base salary plus uncapped commission on every placement you fill.
  • Room to grow.
  • This role starts with ownership of candidate delivery.
  • As you build market credibility, you'll have the opportunity to take on client relationships, run searches end to end, and help build the recruiting team around you.
  • We're a small organization by design.
  • The person who succeeds in this role will have the opportunity to help shape what GTR becomes next!
