About the role
Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking a Senior Level 4 Structural Analysis Engineer for its 787 Wing Empennage Life Cycle Product Team at the North Charleston, South Carolina location. This first-shift role leads structural analysis and technical oversight for wing and empennage primary structures, supporting design, production, certification, and in-service performance. You will apply classical stress analysis and finite element methods, collaborate with engineering teams and suppliers, and mentor developing engineers. The position offers opportunities to improve analytical tools and guide investigations that strengthen aircraft structural integrity. Annual base pay ranges from $126,650 to $171,350, depending on qualifications and business considerations. Eligible candidates may receive relocation assistance. What you'll do
- Lead and check stress analyses for 787 wing and empennage primary structures.
- Review supplier drawings, analyses, test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Define structural requirements, coordinate interface loads, and verify lifecycle structural integrity.
- Lead structural testing and prepare certification documentation supporting regulatory compliance.
- Investigate in-service failures and develop analytical process improvements.
- Mentor engineers and coordinate technical work with domestic and international suppliers.
What you'll bring
- Bachelor of Science in engineering focused on mechanical, civil, aerospace, aeronautical, or materials disciplines.
- At least 9 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least 5 years of stress analysis experience with wing, empennage, or related structures.
- At least 3 years of composite structural stress analysis and prior relevant manufacturing or production systems experience.
- Knowledge of CFR Parts 21 and 25; certification leadership and supplier oversight experience preferred.
- Meet U.S. person export control requirements and company conflict-of-interest assessment and applicable drug testing policies; no visa sponsorship available.
