Varsity and JV Basketball Coaches

About the role

Morris Central School is seeking coaches for Varsity Boys' Basketball, JV Boys' Basketball, and JV Girls' Basketball in Otsego County, New York. An Indoor Track Coach opening is also available. Basketball coaches will lead organized, competitive programs that help student-athletes strengthen their skills, confidence, and commitment to teamwork. These positions involve planning practices, developing game strategies, evaluating performance, and providing constructive instruction. Coaches are expected to promote sportsmanship, discipline, and respect while maintaining a safe, supportive environment during practices, competitions, and team travel. Effective communication with athletes, families, school staff, and officials is essential. Candidates must hold coaching certification and current First Aid, CPR, and AED credentials. These seasonal, part-time opportunities require availability around school athletic schedules, including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends.

What you'll do

• Plan practices that develop basketball fundamentals and team skills.
• Prepare offensive and defensive strategies for games and tournaments.
• Evaluate athlete performance and provide constructive feedback.
• Supervise student-athletes during practices, competitions, and travel.
• Communicate with families and school staff while following school and league policies.
